I am not sure on the skirts. I think skirts would be easy to make and that is what I would do if it were me but not sure where to find or buy them. There is a site that makes skirts for all kinds of cars, maybe someone else on here will know of it. But IMO I would make them myself, it would be fun and a learning experience.www.streamlineautocare.com

I don't know about skirts, I know for '49-'52 Chevy's, there common to find everywere but I don't know about '54 Mercs, I belive there are big long skirts that are called " Cruiser Skirts" ? that will fit any old vehicle I think. You have to look to see if you have lock brackets in the fender wells so your skirts will lock in, they look like handles sort of, you set the lock rods, attached to the skirts on a piviot in the brackets, then pull the handle on the back all the way back, they are then locked in. If you don't have them, you have to make a set and put them in.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Hey everybody, I know its been forever since I posted here. Not really much to update you all on my search for the merc, but I did follow up on an email about 2 weeks ago, and found out that this person had "just recently" sold a 49 merc coupe in running condition for 1,500...I couldn't believe how close I was, yet so far away lol. I found another possible contact, just waiting on a reply for some info. But I am still searching, only a month left to college and then who knows, but I'll be talking to you all later.

California, I am in Canada, so I guess big bucks come into play? I am only 21, currently living in Nova Scotia, So I dunno how possible that is, and how much money we are talking exactly, but ya send me an email and I'll have a look, maybe include your asking price as well, I don't have too big of a budget so I'll know then if its possible or not. thanks

Take your time and drive around and look around. Look in the newspapers, local collector car traders, online, etc. You will find something. If not then maybe a early 50's Ford, Buick or Chevy and still have that Custom Merc look. Mercury's are getting harder and harder to find and even if you find one then they will be BIG bucks for a 2 door.www.streamlineautocare.com
