All stock Talladegas were 428CJ with an automatic on the column. So you won't find any with a Toploader. Now if you are looking for a race prepared Talladega from then you ought to mention that. I've seen a Leroy Yarbrough Talladega not to long ago in Hemmings. Good luck with your search.

You are correct...Am looking for something that is either race prepped or one that I can use to replicate the Wood Bros #21 that David Pearson drove...Also thanks for heads up on Hemmings...

Actually David drove the 1969 Talladega for Holman-Moody. It was the bue and gold #17. Cale drove the Wood brothers car back then. Have you ever checked out the Wood Brothers web site? It is http://www.woodbrothersracing.com/ Check out their history page for some old #21 pictures.

I was just looking at the Wood Brothers site and I cannot find the pictures I saw a few weeks ago (maybe a month or two). There are some changes to their site. The must be revising it. Also check out www.holmanmoody.com for pearson's '69 Talladega.

Here is a quick story about a Talladega from about 15 years ago. I went to a local Ford show in Gettysburg, PA and there was a very nice blue Talladega. I had a '69 Torino GT 428CJ so the owner of the Talladega and I got to talking. He told me the story of how he obtained this car. He and his brother were cruising along a back road in northern Maryland a few years earlier. While driving along they spotted what looked like a Torino between 2 dilapilated sheds. It was covered with pine needles and some vine growth. They found the owner and asked if he was interested in selling it, that they might be interested in fixing it up. The owner told them they could have it for free that he'd even entertain the thought of paying them $50 to get rid of it. The two brothers really thought this was nothing more than a Torino. They drug it home and called the local Ford parts dealer to see what parts were available. After some conversation with the parts counter guy they mentioned that there was a "T" letter emblem on a rear fake gas cap and the rest of the letters were missing on the doors. They only had the rectangular emblem with a "T" and wanted to know if the "O, R, I, N, O emblems were available? Well the rest is pretty much history. The Ford parts guy filled them in on their Talladega prize and told them what it would be worth if it were restored. They sold a pick up and took out a loan to get the finances to restore it. They said they invested about $15,000 back in 1983-1986.

Pretty lucky guys I'd say. You probably won't find those kind of deals any more.

We have a 1969 Ford Talladega with all the oringinal documentation. It is maroon in color, all the numbers match it is in excellent condition. Any information about the car would be appreciated. How many are still out there, we have seen one other but it did not have the original engine.
