    wanted 32 ford rat rod

Or something around that year. I'm 24 years old just married and 2 kids. I am looking for at least a body i dont really care what style. I dont have a whole lot of money to work with so i wont be suprised if nothing comes out of this. I have been hanging out with some old timers trying to learn as much as i can about the lost art of building these cars the way they were built back then. My plans are to learn and master the lost arts of rod building so that i can do my part to keep the tradition of rod building alive for many more generations to enjoy and hopefully pass this style of building down to my kids and anyone else who truely loves the craftsmanship of yesterday. I am planning to open a shop one day to provide these services so that everything that was obtainable then will be obtainable tommorow. So I guess if you have something sitting around taking up space or know someone who has one shoved in a hole shomwhere please let me know. thanks.

I have been through similar reasoning for many, many years and as far as I know, an original steel deuce body will be hard to find and if found, not cheap. You might as well order a Brookville catalog and start saving if you want a metal deuce. Brookville is working on a metal three window coupe and if you start saving now you might be able to get one in a year or two. Brookville already has metal roadster bodies and of course there are quite a number of fiberglass deuce bodies; one of the most interesting is a Bebops Vicky body. As a person with sinus problems and having raised a family of three children, I would look hard at a Vicky body for a family rod rather than a roadster, but of course I only say that since I am totally hooked on a '29 roadster even if a sinus infection does me in (it may!), I have read too many articles featuring a California roadster.

yeah, i love the vickis. i am really just interested in that era of cars, not one style in particular. i just missed out on a vicki out in idaho on e-bay. but thats the way it goes. it was only the body and radiator support/housing, but it only went for like 1600. i wasnt home for the end of the auction so i guess its my fault. I got a good lead on a 41 ford, but i'd rather build something a little smaller. The main thing that makes me wanna build the 41 is that when i was a kid my dad picked up a 42 that got sold before we could really tear into it. so if i cant find an early 30's ford i'll probably go for the 41.

I just went and looked at that brookville website and the base price on that steel 32 coupe body is $ 20,000 with $ 5000 deposit. If you went fiberglass you could get a rolling chassis with a body and fenders for that with glass. Coast to coast makes a nice package I looked at at the local hotrod shop. At some point I am going to build or buy a 32 3 window. I will probably end up building a fiberglass car because I just can't justify the extra money for steel. You never need to worry about rust but I'm not sure what the longevety is for fiberglass? Does it eventually crack and get those spider cracks that are seen on old vettes ect?
