i saw a 59 sitting in the junkyard the other day... body was straight, no rust, had the power rear window and clamshell hood, looked like it had a 410 under the hood but i might be wrong on that.... the interior was trashed and i'm sure the motor was probably in terrible condition...

norcaloldskool, I am a bit of a Lincoln guy, I have one now as a daily driver, my 71 Coupe, and I have owned three others, two 66 Coupes and a 74 Mark. While I am not an expert by far, perhaps I can give an opinion if needed. What are you looking to do with you early 60's Linc if you get it? I know that the old motors, like the 430 and 462, had their respective strengths and weaknesses. I only have a little experience with the 462 and none with the 430. I wasn't happy with the 462 because of how hard it was to find parts for it. Anyhow, let us know what you want to do...

norcal, you really need to consider a later year Lincoln. They are so much easier to work on and find parts for. Have you thought about getting a Lincoln Mark III? They are 2-door Coupes, have Hi-Po 460 motors, have power everything, very easy to hotrod, and are very cool looking and gangsterish. Another good point is that they are rising in value and popularity very quickly. As for speed, I just got a total 460 motor rebuild in my 71 Lincoln Coupe and boy! is she quick. I have to be careful not to smoke the tires leaving a stoplight. Go to http://www.Dogpile.com, click on 'images', and type in 'Lincoln Mark III', then hit return. On the second page of results is a beautiful black Mark III that can give you an idea of how nice they can look. I tried to post the pic, but the action timed out. Look at the selection on eBay motors, always some on there.

You can find parts, of course, but your gonna pay through the nose for them. Try to find anything performance-related for the 430 or 462 .vs the 460 and you will see what I mean. There is a huge amount of parts available for the 460 that will allow a fella to build a motor to his liking, whereas with the 430 or 462 you will be quite limited. If you have an armload of cash anything is possible, but I don't believe that norcal is rollin' in the door. I know I am not, so I picked a vehicle that looks very good to me and has a drivetrain that I can afford to work on. YMMV...
