This has been a pet project of mine for years. I've even met Tom Medley, Dode Martin, and Kent Fuller and taken pictures of Fuller's car. His is for sale by the way... $85,000 was what I was quoted. I recently asked him if he knew of any cars made from his kit that were available, complete or incomplete, and he hasn't found any, as far as I know.
Fuller also recommended using an IRS trans so that the wheels could be moved rearward about 4 inches.
What I intend to do is go to a local chassis fabricator and have him use the Rod & Custom series to build me a duplicate frame and take it from there.

I'm committing the cardinal sin - got 2 project cars going simultaneously.
One is the aforementioned T bucket like Medley and Fuller did back in the late 60's.
The other is taking the Speedway Track T kit and making it into a mid-engine VW powered car.
And I agree, the VRod Rat Rod that Speedway sells can be made to look pretty cool, especially if it's a 'vert.

it's funny you would say that (collecting Rod & Custom plans) and talking to Fuller, Dode, Tom...I talked to all of them too..I even talked to the Brizios about it...Now there is a rumor that Speedway might make a Volksrod available again if there's enough intrest....but I talked to Bill @ Speedway (he's the owner) a few years back and he said no way.....Bill did buy all the tooling from Fuller for the kit...we'll see what happens..oh well

For some reason Brizio's version really never struck a chord with me. I really don't like the rear 3/4 view of the Volksrod in general (pu bed too long), but his seemed pretty exagerrated.
I've gone back & forth with Speedway also... there was even a HRM article about their kit, but they only sold like 20 in 20 years, aren't interested in finding any parts that might be laying around or got lost in the recent move, so like I said initially, I'm just going to do my own... if they could do it so can I!
