Wanted: 1968 Galaxie
I am looking for a 1968 Galaxie. I had one when I was younger and when I got married (like many other men) my wife made me sell it.
I am looking for a 2 door Fastback. Preferable NOT an XL model. I would like to find one with a bench front seat and a 302V8. The engine is flexable but I really want the bench.
I live in the Northwest and my wife did give me a budget that I have to stay in, so I know I am limited in my search. I keep looking on ebay and autotrader but I see nothing in my price range that is close to me geographically. If anyone out there knows of anything like this please let me know.
Thanks.

Whats your price range and are you willing to travel?I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

My budget is around $2000, I'd rather it be less but I may be able to squeeze a little more out of the boss (my wife). Whatever the price it would have to be reasonable to what the car is worth.
I'm not looking for a show car. I'm looking for something to drive. My first '68 galaxie was a beater and I loved it. It would only start when I spoke nicely to it and it would never start for my wife because she didn't speak nice to the car (the starter had no teeth).
I am willing to travel a 2 or 3 hundred miles from Portland, Oregon depending on the condition of the car and the price of the vehicle I'd be looking at.

i have a 69 convertable, much like a 68 but not exactly, i know convertables aren't too desirable in oregon tho, but its got a freshly rebuilt 302 with a with a nice cam, and a rebuilt FMX tranny, rebuilt frontend, new top... it needs a new hood and a some body work, has a lot of bondo under the paint.... i'd be willing to sell it for about $3000, i live in san diego tho, kind of a long drive, but i do have some friends in portland i would like to visit

A convertable would be nice, but that just isn't what I'm looking for. If it was a '68 maybe I could con the boss into it, but I've made my plea to her and it would be hard to now change my wish. Plus it's out of my price range and out of my driving range. Thanks for the posting.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
