Tom, have you tried searching CraigsList nation wide? It will list ads that may have been pulled or expired too, but it might also link you to what you want to find. Here's a link, onecraigs.com for 1954 Mercury - Onecraigs - Search all of Craigslist nationwide
The pair in Atlanta (Buy one, get one free) for $1800 don't look bad, if you can make that long of a trip....Roger

Try racingjunk.com.

hi Tom. I am an Iowa boy also. I know a guy in Mason City Iowa who is a Merc guy. he has restored several and may have what you need or will know of any parts cars. Ken Pederson is his name. I can get his phone number if you have any interest.

Tom, there is an older Merc behind a cyclone fence at a Storage facility near here and I will try to get a pic for identification and, if possible, maybe some information on it. I do know that it has been sitting outside since we moved here in 2012 so the condition is questionable. First I'll try and get a pic to post and then we can go from there. Give me a day or so, OK?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the US version of the 54 Merc come with a flathead? My second car was a 54 Merc (Canadian version) and it had a 256ci Y-block. Just wondering.
Always liked those.

Nope, '53 was the last year for the flathead, at least in Mercurys and Fords in the U.S.

loved those tail lights on the 54 mercs-all the cars I drew pics of had 54 merc taillites--even if I put 57 ford fins on them, I did 54 taillites---
