    cooling 454

I have a 72 454 in my nova . On the intake there is two 3/4" hoses. The front hose is very short and goes to the water pump . The other I believe , ran to the heater core , which isn't being used. The hose is now looped to the left side of the water pump. My question is would it be o.k. to plug off looped hose ? It would be like the heater core valve was shut anyway, right?

That hose isn't necessary to keep water circulating through the pump/block while the thermostat is closed?

Thank's guy's you always come through for me.Do you think a 180 degree thermostat would be o.k. , it has a 160 in it now and is very cold blooded. It almost seems that the car never warms up.
