    4 5/16" bore, 3.9" stroke.

    .030 over = 462".

I've been running late Buicks for a while.
There are a lot of advantages with them along with a few disadvantages.

They are a torque monster - get the 10/1 compression ratio engine and you'll have 510# torque stock.

Drop in on the V8 Buick board as well.
A lot of very knowledgeable guys over there.

Well, I did have a lot of info written here but my browser went back and I lost all that I wrote so BAH! Anyhow, for normal street use, good engine, lots of torque. For more performance, never rev it up too high, the big bearings have much higher bearing speeds than typical big blocks and the oiling system was not that great, especially if the front cover is used; the oil drive gears would wear into the cover thus resulting in lower pressure. And because the block is the lightest big block some don't believe in its ability to handle much power without block modifications such as hard blok and filling the lifter valley with stuff. Big bearings = bad, original oiling system = bad, this gave it a somewhat poor reputation for longetivity, however it is a great street motor, light and very torquey. It responds well to mods but they are quite expensive. TA products sells lots of Buick stuff. Don't get me wrong about the things I may say are bad about the 455, I love the motor myself and have one that I'm going to buildup!
I'd rather go fast than worry about the gas mileage.
