    New here, another 396 question

Hey, I just found your forum and thought I'd sign up. while I'm here I'll ask a question.

I have a 72 BB monte carlo. It's been in storage for about 15 years. The 402 is in pretty ruff shape from all it's sitting. So I'm going to replace it.

Now, I have a 68' 396 board .060. The pistons I have are TRW L2287f The domes look close to.500.

So on to my question. I have a set of 70' oval port closed chambered heads (3964290). From what i've read not much over 100 cc. Will these heads work with the pistons I allready have??
This car will never be a daily drive, it might get out once a month or so.

Or should I pull the set of the 402 I know there open chambered I dont remember the casting number though.

I just want somethin that looks and sounds good with a lil power to. lol

    Thanks

Two problems, The TRW piston will hit the head, down low on the dome, exhaust side where the dome meets the flat part of the piston. Towards the edge of the piston. (these pistons were designed for rectangle port heads that have a bit different c-chamber) You can either cut the dome back in this area or relieve the head/combustion chamber... BUT, with those pistons in a closed chamber head you will have 12.5-1 compression (factory rated). A bit much for todays gasoline..

I would sell the pistons on Ebay (they sell for decent money)and get some Keith blacks with a rating of about 9.5-1.
