Should I buy this COMP CAM
Hey Guys, I have this Friend thats selling me a Brand new Comp Cams Camshaft For a 454 part#11-230-3, I loked it up in the comp cams web site and found the specs on this cam and I need some advice, if I should buy it? well the camshaft is being sold to me for $60 and the specs are: Chevrolet, 8 cylinder 396 to 454ci, 1965-1996, Lobe Separation 110, Gross valve lift 0.47" intake @ 0.05, and 0.475" exhaust @0.005. Going with these specs would this camshaft have that good big block aggressive sound to it? The motor has a regular camshaft right now! If I buy this cam am I going to need new lifters? The 454 motor is going to be street driving and some strip action on weekends! Thanks for any advice!

If You dont want the cam I'll buy it. If its new I"ll wire the money this afternoon. Is it still in the box with cam card? Sounds like and excellent cam for stock to mild high performance. You never put used lifters on a new cam, NEVER!

You can call Comp Cam Help monday morning 1-800-999-0853 , Tell them what the motor is in ,give the particulars and they will tell what the cam will or will not do for You.If the guy has any more new Extreme Energy cams laying around for 60 bucks I'll take them too.
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
