    Question BBC 454 Truck/Car Engine

Hey there everyone, I was wondering if there is a difference in the TRUCK and CAR BBC 454. I know that the 427 in a truck is sometimes a "TALL" deck engine. Is this true with a 454 as well?

There are tall deck 454's as well, but just because it came out of a truck it's not necessarily a tall deck block. My current 454 was from a 76 chevy pickup, but it's a standard deck height.

Thanks for the reply, JohnnyO. I guess now I need to find out what the casting number is on the block. The guy is going to give me the whole truck (with the running 454) for $300 dollors! LOL!
I guess no matter what it is, I'll come out ahead

the TRUCK engines are in the big C-60s etc. the big trucks...pickups arent considered as TRUCK in this referance.

    Ok, COOL!

I do have the GM Casting Numbers book, but it only tells if its a "TRUCK" engine. It doesn't say if its a "TALL" deck or not. The guy that I'm buying it from said it's out of a 1 ton pick-up. Should this still be a standard block, you think?
