Roller Rockers
I found some used roller rockers, ratio 1:7. Could I use these on a stock 454. And if they worked would it help me much. or if they didn't work what would I have to do to use roller rockers.
Another question I have is how good are those Proform carbs. I have a 700 double pumper holley on the engine now but it ain't mine I would like to buy carb that works better or just as good as this carb does. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I personally would not buy any used roller rockers, I know others have done it, but I think it is too much of a gamble. New ones aren't that awfully expensive, so why take a chance? To answer your question, yes, you can use them, you dont need any special parts or anything....but if you're expecting to feel any difference, you wont. They have less friction than regular rockers, so they free up a little more HP, but it wont be noticeable. Unless you know without a doubt where they came from, and their history, I would not do it. As far a Proform, I dont have any real time experience with them. I dont care much for Proform products in general, so I guess I would not use their carb parts. Get a good Holley or Edelbrock, and you'll be fine. Is it a street engine? Everyone wants a double pumper, cause it sounds cool to have one, but a vacuum secondary will give better performance on the street...noticeably better! And better mileage to boot. Been there, done that, several times! JohnWhen your dreams turn to dust, Vacuum!

The carb is going on a mud drag pickup. I am not worried about gas mileage. I just want performance and good off the line power. Still trying to decide between vacuum secondary and the double pumpers.

if it is a mud truck i would run the double pumper mech secondary .but i have a customers that likes the old style weiand tunnel ram with two 650 edlbrock carbs on it .this set up as been on five trucks and work out geat on all of them.but if you use the elbrocks use the off road needles and seats and they do not like much fuel psi not much over 5 1/2
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
