no ,I set them on the engine stand, the prememalary setting and I set them just the way you described no play + 1/2 turn. I even called lunati to make sure of this setting and the tech rep. said this is right, but I know I've still got one a little loose because I hear.but I did find one of my problems, the carbon tip had broke in my distribator, then for some reason my fuel pump went out so I stuck my carter pump I on. starting run better worked on the air adj. on carb. fooled with timing cherry seems to be going away still got some bugs. thanks again everyone for all the help and advice. wjr

You need to re set the valves with the engine running. I just went round and round with this, the only way I got the right was when it was running."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

a clever way to do your valves is to grab a cheap or "junk" set of valve covers and cut the center out. you can access the rocker nuts, but wont get oil all over the place.

I drill 1" holes in an old cover, same idea. Works great!

Lean is mean, but you've gone past the safty zone. What is the jetting at?
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
