    Carb Rebuilders

Hey Yall, I need your help again. I need to find a good, carb rebuilder. I have a holley carb I need to have rebuilt and I dont think anyone in this town has the know how to rebuild it right, and it seems like the only ones I can hunt on the net are 'show qualiity' rebuilder/restorers, and that means 'we charge out the ass', lol! I am not looking to have this thing painstakingly reworked, I just had a few probs with it, and wold like to have it checked out to see what all needs to be done. Anyone know of any trustworthy shops that you have delt with? Thanks

Wish I could help. The guy here in Huntsville that does carbs has serious health problems and doesn't work everyday. He has done a couple carbs for my friend and helped me get the carb on my 82 S-15 working better. He isn't listed so everybody goes to him refrences from his customers.

What model number of Holley, and what are it's problems??? Lots of knowlegable car folksaround here to lend some advice. Holley's are a simple carb to work on, and once you are familiar with them, troubleshooting is not all that difficult.

Commenting on Ion's posting in this thread, I found a guy in Dallas that was the best I ever knew. He went through the AFB on my old nail valve Buick so fast it was amazing. Then he started driving a modifieds for a wealthy customer of his.

    He was thirty.

Well I have a few probs with it. First off it is a 4779, 750cfm, mechanical sec, and electric choke, which someone has jerry rigged to do away with. Here is my first question, I am going to put it on my bbc 496 stroker, with a th400 auto tranny, i have herd that the rule of thumb is to use a carb with vac secondaries with an auto tranny, is this the case or will this one work? Also, is the fact that someone did away with the electric choke affecting my performance any? The problem I was having was that it wasnt opening up all the way with full throttle, and the choke prob. Let me know some tips, this may be a common, easily fixed prob, but am new to the hot rodding scene and am trying to learn as i go.

On a side note, any of yall ever heard of a PBM cam? Thanks again.
