Cam for my 496?
O.K. Yall, I have officially decided on my rotating assembly for that 496 I have been wanting to build. I am gettin an eagle Cast Crank, Eagle SIR63853D 5140 Steel rods, SRP forged Pistons, which should give me approx 10:1 CR, with oval port cast heads, with 219, and 188 valves, a holley 750 cfm carb, still havent found the right intake yet! Can anyone give me a cam recomendation for this set up. Oh yes, I have a th400 tranny, and will be getting approx, 2800 stall, and 3:73 or maybe 4:10 gears. Help.

...I'd call a couple of the cam manufactures and see what they say. I've read on the forum that some of the manufactures are more 'aggressive' in their recommendations. May be someone will chime in and tell us who??? I don't remember..... Bill

A ran a combo about like this in a 70 Camaro,The cam I ran was mech. roller cam the specs. where 245/255 at .050,lift was .630 on the intake and .650 on the exhaust it was cut on 112 lobe seperation.I would try a RPM Perfomer Air Gap manifold.I started with a 750 Holley but ended up witha 850 Demon carb. This combo. seemed to work well with 175 shot of N20.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
