502 Dyno results
Put the 502 on the dyno yesterday and came away very happy All the pulls were performed with 91 OCTANE PUMP GAS & experienced no detonation. With the 8-71 running straight up (10 lbs. of boost) she made 800.6 HP @5800 rpm's & 725 lbs. of torque. Maximum torque was 792 lbs. @ 4400 rpm's!!! Hope to put it in her new home this winter.

Brodix BB-2-X heads. The cam is an Engle flat tappet.. (292 intake/308 exhaust/ 590 lift) 112 degree center. The carbs are Demon 850 blower referenced double pumpers. compression ratio is 8:1 with Arias blower pistons.

Duration @ .050
Intake 253
Exhaust 272
The attempt was to approximate the power she used to make without using 112 octane. Before the rebuild, she was running stock (ported) 502 iron heads, a stock hydraulic cam & a 25% overdriven 6-71 with Holley 750 DP's. With this setup, she could pull 720 HP @ 5600 RPM. I bought her this way & didn't care for pumping my own fuel from a 55 gallon drum. The last drum of 112 I bought was $3.65 gallon & she went through fuel like poop through a goose!
I also didn't like the 25% overdrive situation as the 6-71 was making way too much heat. I could have turned the boost down, but the power loss was significant. I feel the expense of the rebuild was worth it, if only to get a fresh motor & one that can live happily on 91 octane.
Getting closer on this project. What a lot of work!
