reading engine castings
I'm trying to find the horsepower of my 427.Its in a 69 vette. the plaque on the dash says 427/435 horse. I had a guy want to buy my car and said it only had a 400 horse engine. Can anyone tell me how to read the engine numbers so I can be for sure? Thanks

But what you really have to do is some good ole fashion research. There are lots of books you can buy (ID & parts interchange for instance) and there's lots of info on the web, you just have to look.Last edited by trashburner; 11-15-2005 at 08:16 PM.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
