cabin fever big block dreamin
I am not ready for an engine for the Nova yet but was goin 496 then I found this on ebay ,I did an 383 LT1 in a chevelle and it was a sweet package so I thought I'd do EFI on my 496 ,but I think this would be a much better route with cam and ECM work I bet this would be bad ass in a 69 Nova http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vorte...QQcmdZViewItemjust finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS

well I am gonna check with my dealer and see what the intake ports on the heads are like .I think they are regular oval ports .I had the computer for the LT1 reprogrammed for the 383 and cam and it has got tons of power and still gets 22 mpg ,guess I'm thinking this could end up bein about the same deal but then again this motor would be nice in my 95 suburban tojust finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS

....I don't know how to attach stuff but if you go to www.sdpc2000.com & put it part #89017488 it'll come up. It doesn't have the details on it though. It does have details on the 502 truck crate motor & the heads are the small oval port ones with 2.065 intakes & 1.725 exhaust valves. The cam's duration is 204/209 @ 1/2" with 4.80/4.83..... REALLY small..... Bill

well I missed out on that motor ,but I am going to do some research on this I really like the way my Chevelle came out and would like the same high tech setup in the Nova the car is a long way from needing the engine I just got it on the rotisserie I like the LT1 but Iwant to try something different with Big Block ,we are also considering LS1 with a 6 spd but I really want a big block but I want EFI and clean look of serpentine drive but if I go with aftermarket EFI and serpentine plus the rebuild of my 454 I took out of the Nova ,I will be real close to 7-8K and these vortec systems are OBD II while it seems complicated is an easy to diagnose problems, plus I like Coil on plug with the right cam and programming I think it can really be awsome ridejust finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS

i think that an LS1 with a centrifugal blower would be a sweet setup. lots of power especially with the blower. and its under the hood and it gets good gas mileage.

I have a while to sort this out ,my son is pushing the LS1 six speed also, this will be moms car so we'll see ,it took me a while to get the manual transmission ,she wanted automatic ,I think an LS1 with a 6 spd will be awsome ,We have an old El Camino we use at the shop and I wanted to put the 454 in it. I guess I just want a big block 4 spd car and I am not a Nova fan .Maybe by the time we get this done a first gen camaro will fall in my lap ,now that would be awsome with a 454 4spdjust finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS
