781's head
How much is a set of 781 or 049's worth if they have the bigger valves in them and supposedly have been rebuilt with 5000 miles on them. I have a set of bare 781's. Does any of you guys know how much it costs for minor port work, cutting bigger valves, SS valves and springs. How much would I have into them. I would like a rough estimate. Going on a 468 maybe. Thanks

this would be hard to say how much your machine shop rates are but with big valves and bowl job fresh cut on the deck with all parts about $700 is what i get for this job with the heads loaded

yup depending on your shop you'll pay between $700-1200... some machine shops charge a ton for the port work, and some also charge a lot on the valve seat work...just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Was there any factory oval-ports with the bigger valves.
The guy who wants to sell the 049's said they come factory with the bigger valves. I told him to find a caliper and measure them for me.

no, the 049s, 781s etc. did not come with 2.19/1.88s75 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
