454 heads
ok guys here is the deal....i have a mild street motor that has been down for a while, i had a bad valve guide. so i bought some heads that will get me on the road again, nothing to special. now seeing as how i dont have a high lift cam or any serious power makers (i have DE-tuned the car) i have a few questions.....
ok one head is a 781 large oval ports.....then the other is an 049....they were built as a matched set...no porting or power adding work....just re-guided, valved and so on.
1. seeing as how they arent a matched set am i going to have any problems.....i dont like the idea of an unmatched set...but i need my car back.
2. i was wondering what the color on the valve springs meant...i know it is a rating of some sort....the 781 has yellow paint on the springs....the 049 has no markings.....maybe they just marked one because they are a matched set?
3. i was looking at the valves and the valve seat is just barely...and i meant just barely visible....is this a problem?
thanx for the help...i am a young guy trying to learn.......and if these heads are bad i have access to aluminum Brodix.....but they are a little wild for my stocker 454....but i would be a good reason to build a better lower end...lol
