Best Head Gaskets?
What would you guys reccomend for a .060 over 454 Mark IV iron block with open chamber iron heads running 9.5:1 CR and a 125-150 HP nitrous system. The decks and heads have been surfaced, but I don't know if they are finished smooth enough for MLS gaskets?, or maybe they are? Appreciate your reccomendations.Last edited by Step Side; 07-04-2006 at 05:49 PM.

Pat,
Do the 1037 gaskets require any block modifications for a late 70's Mark IV block?

yes it should i am sure it will work it just has more print out on the water pass for the open deck v-vi blocks i use a lot of 1017-1 and they work and have more print out for the v-vi to but you can check it out. oh look at the bottom row of water pass on the deck you can add some holes if not in the deck if you want 1/2to 9/16 will work some of the old blocks do not have them this will help on cooling fel-pro saids i have done thisLast edited by pat mccarthy; 07-04-2006 at 06:54 PM.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
