I'll give you my stock answer. To my way of thinking, it takes the same power to move a certain amount of water whether you're driving the impeller mechanically or electrically, so I would be the last hot rodder on the planet to spend hard earned money on an electric water pump. There are pumps produced by Mezziere that will pump 50-55 gallons per minute and they will do the job, but they are pricey.
I also would not replace a mechanical fuel pump with an electric pump if I were looking to pick up some horsepower.
Leave everything else alone and change the rear gear if you want some real seat-of-the-pants acceleration improvement for the money.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Electric water pump for the street NO. Electric fuel pump is ok. the more electric stuff you run the bigger alternator and it will take power to run it???

Sounds like you're just interested in freeing up some HP...forget the pumps, they wont do it for you. Electric fuel pumps are OK, as Pat said, but if you dont have to have one, use the mechanical one.. And for the water pump, the only advantage I can see is if you race the car, you can move the water around to help cool the engine while you're in the staging lanes between rounds...other than that, no advantage. In the magazines, all the trick of the month club goodies look great...and others will say they free up XX horsepower. But in the real world things like electric water pumps belong on the drag strip, not on a street car. Sure would be a bummer on a nice Sunday afternoon cruise up 169 to the cities to wind up on the side of the road with a $300.00 electric water pump or fuel pump that can't even be replaced till the stores open on Monday!!! (And then maybe wait 4 or 5 more days because the store doesn't stock them and has to order your part) A standard water pump or mechanical fuel pump can be replaced on the side of the road with parts that are readily available.... If you really want one, I have a pretty near new one in my junk---er, parts department that another guy took off in disgust and bought a mechanical one. It's in there beside a few gear timing sets and MSD boxes and other useless crap.
