at one time it was done. but there is so much cheap parts to build a 4.250 stroker crank 489-030.over and 060 -496 . a 125 crank 060 over would be a 482 cid if you are going to stroke i would go 4.250 have done many they work good and have done 4.375 in the 9.800 block a 4.375 crank gets a 511cid

with the 4.25 stoke, what piston setup have you used and what was compression at. what cc heads did you use. go over some spec with some of the motors you have done

IMO, use 6.385 rods, I beam. See what Pat says, but that's what I would do. .030 over is ok. What oval port heads do you have? Casting numbers? That's a large chamber head, so you will need a pretty good size dome to get a decent c/r like 9.5 or 10/1. My combo is 454 4 bolt block, +.100 bore, 1/4" stroke (505 cubes) Scat 9000 crank, scat forged I-beam cap screw rods, SRP forged pistons, GM iron heads (291) custom ground solid roller cam, 255/259 @ .050, .668 lift, 110 lsa. Holley 830HP on Edel. Air Gap Perf. intake. Nothing like a stroker!Last edited by 1JohnnyO; 09-26-2006 at 07:21 PM.

the 250 long rods i or H beams are nice and may be less$$ in the long run . the cap screw bolts that they use in all H beams and some I beams are better for room so it this point you may want new rods then go longer BUT i have run the stock rods they work fine with a good rod bolts and recond . if a low $$ build then stock rods cast steel crank and hyper piston if you go H beams and forged pistons forged steel crank then go to the long rods at this point they will not cost any more but for a mild build you will not see any + with the longer rods and the pin in the pistons is in a better spot not so hi up for street use but this would have lot to do with what you are trying to do?? how big of heads and big cam +hp =rpms so then better stuff .
