    Next year's project, Pat McCarthy

Pat, I think Im gonna pick up a 427 tall deck from my friend. I have the itch to do a bigger stroker engine. So, I will be picking your brain to find out what will work for the different combos. I figure I have 3 or 4 sets of GM heads, lots of cams, and other things I can use. What does a 565 need for bore and stroke? That sounds like a nice number!! John

well if you bore it to 4.375 and 4.500stroke then 541.2 but i have a nice 10.200 world or dart block that can go to 572 and can go to 638 and have the short block for low cr if you need that i can give you one hell of a deal and some stuff to do a 565.581.598 hi cr block. i have pistons for the 638 and have a used block new pistons and new crank i have the blocks to do any size from 555to638 you could go to a 4 3/4 stroke then that would be a 571 with the 4.375 bore but i would try to stay with the bigger bore to the stroke if you can. all your parts crank rods customs pistons you can get to 632 for not much more money and get the 4.530to 4.600 bore with any of the blocks i have and they have room for the big stroke where some of them 427 tall decks you can not cut out much for the stoke or you hit water so i say a 525 or 541.3

Eric, if money were no object, that's the way I would go...the only reason Im even talking about this is because Im picking this engine up....the whole engine.....for 300 bucks. Granted, I cant use too much more than the block, but even just that, at 300, is not too bad. I have to do these projects in an 'economical' way ! I need another engine like a hole in the head...but some things I just cant say no to. Pat, I should give you a call and see what we can come up with. John
