truck block
What trucks did the tall deck truck blocks come in? Was it the big dump trucks, buses, etc., or did the half, three quarter, and one ton pickups use these blocks?

i don't think gm put any tall deck blocks in the 1/2, 3/4 , 1 ton trucks, the tall block is found in dump trucks, buses, grain/farm trucks, boats, saw one used in an industrial generator, if your looking for a tall deck make sure you check the casting numbers at the back of the engine, GM made a 427 tall block and a 366 tall block, the 366 block is basically a boat anchor, the crank and rods in the 366 are the same as the 427 tall block, could use the heads and intake off 366 tall if your building a stock engine, the distributors are also interchangeable between the 366Tall and 427tall, hope this helps

I was just curious. We're getting rid of the old church bus with a 366. would it be worth scavenging the crank and rods?

not a bad idea, the 366Tall and 427tall blocks both had forged cranks and heavy duty truck connecting rods
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
