I have used Cloyes True roller chains with billet gears in any engine build that the engine would see over 6,000 rpms with ZERO FAILURE rate over the past 20 years.
I also have had a ZERO FAILURE rate when I have used the double roller set in "stocker type" rebuilds.
If you are breaking a chain that has a .250 pin along with the billet gears you are doing something wrong.
You do know that some of us do this for a living.
Some guys on this forum have been building engines for 40 years.

Haven't even worked in a machine shop since the late 70's, but when the good gears and chains came out the gear drives became just more leftover parts laying on a shelf in the parts room. I doubt anything has improved on gear drives other then there's a whole generation who now think the whine is kewl and harmful harmonics in an engine is just some geezer dream. For me, gear drives are a case of been there, done that, ain't goin' back. If you want your engine to whine like it has a blower then BUY A DANG BLOWER!!!!!!

Hey, now there's a new marketing pattern!!!!! Start selling blowers for "the same sound as a gear drive"!!!!!! The "whiney sound" guys should just jump all over that thing!!!!!!
