69/70 chevelle / el camino 396 big block questions???
I PURCHASED A 1967 EL CAMINO RECENTLY. THE SELLER HAD THIS SHORT BLOCK AND WAS GOING TO HAVE IT REBUILT, BUT NEVER DID. ANYWAY, I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I HAVE. I THINK IT'S A 1969 OR 1970 396 OR 402 2 BOLT MAIN BIG BLOCK STAMPED "HIGH PERFORMANCE PASSENGER" AND THE NUMBER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT WAS STAMPED ON THE BLOCK IS 11027CTW. I AM TRYING TO DETERMINE THE VALUE OF THIS ENGINE (NOT REBUILT) AND ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT IT. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks for the info SBC. Do you know how to put a value on something like this??? I am thinking of re selling it as I have no use for it. Trying to determine if I should have it rebuilt and sell it or sell like it sits?!?!?

I bought the same short block .060 over, professionally built with TRW pistons, billet crank, dimple con. rods etc. for $500. I don't think there's alot of hidden value to that engine. It would probably be most valuable keeping it in the original vehicle. Just my opinion!I'd rather be driven, then taken for a ride.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
