    Original 65 big block info

I'm doing a body off restoration on a matching numbers 1965 396 SS Impala and wanted to see if anyone knows or has pictures of a 360 HP 396.
I need to know if the 360 horse engine had painted or chrome valve covers. What did the air filter look like. Did it have a 4 blade fan?
This kind of stuff is what I was missing when I got the car and if anyone has info or pictures of a stock engine it would me alot and I can get the engine in the frame soon.

    Thanks

I can't answer your questions, but just wanted to say I envy you. Those '65 SS Impalas are great cars. If I had to bet, I would say chrome valve covers, but we'll see what the experts say.

Now that I think about it, in '66 I was going to buy a new 360 HP Chevelle SS, but bought a Tripower GTO instead. The Chevelle had chrome valve covers and a low restriction air cleaner stock. Don't know if that carried over to the full sized cars or not.

Don't forget that cool vinyl sticker they placed on those things. As a kid I thought that was the cat's meow. Then again, I was just a kid! By the way Denny, How did you count the blades as it was slicing your fingers? I never could tell. Just learned some new cuss words as the thump, thump, thump, was churning my knuckles into hamburger
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
