Two items come to mind, 1) are you running the stock exhaust valve spring retainer ? If you are, I'd suggest removing the retainer as it is a rotation design so the exhaust valve spins during normal valve movement. Many times the retainer will make a clicking type noise that sound like a loose rocker. Just install an intake retainer or a suitable aftermarket unit.
2) Check your valve train closely - make sure there's no coil bind, the retainer isn't hitting the valve stem seal or guide at full open, and that the valve to guide clearance isn't to wide. Too much stem clearance will cause a noise that's worse with high lift cams.
Just my 2 cents . . . .

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
