?? low oil pressure on my 454
running straight 40w oil, stock pan, high vol. pump. when engine is cool I have 25 psi at idle(800rpm) at 3000 rmp 55psi(in park) when engine is running 190 temp. the oil pressure is 40-45 @ 60 mph, 2100 rpm. then at idle the pressure drops down to 10 psi.!!!!( 800rpm) thwere is no rocker clatter though. as soon as I take off the oil pressure goes back up to 45 psi@ 60mph, is this ok? I have always heard 10 psi for every 1000rpm?? should I get a high pressure spring to install in the oil pump?? does anyone sell a high pressure oil pump?? or is it even nessary? the oil gauge is a electric one, but a mech. one read the same. the sender is connected right above the oil filter in the 1/8 pipe thread port.

Got to agree, doesn't sound like there is anything actually wrong with the pressure. Typical chebby.
