    396/400 differences?

    Why is a 396 a BB. But a 400 is a SB?

396 BB is a big block about 125 pound heavier and bigger.
    4.096" Bore x 3.76" stroke
can be bored to 4.196 (That I know of) and should be able to fit a 4" stroke crank for a 454. (442.5ci BB)

400SB is lighter, but more likely to over heat.

    4.125" B x 3.75" stroke.

can be bored to 4.165" x 3.75" stroke. (409ci SB)

    you can rebore a 400SB 3 times 020,030,040
    you can rebore a 396BB 6 times 020, 030, 040, 060, 070, 100
    had a rebuilt 355SB chevy
    it lasted 42,000km
    Got another rebuilt 355SB
    it lasted 62km.
I still have not had a powerful engine.

    slowly building a quicker truck
