Can I run a water pump in reverse?
I just picked up a pair of really nice polished Edelbrock short water pumps for a BBC. Now I am now realizing these may be reverse rotation pumps (for serpentine I guess). I am bummed cause they are really nice and look sweet on my motor (see my pics link in signature). They are marked as 8854.
I am running a regular fan belt set up. How bad would it be to run this thing in reverse? I am assuming it won't work well at all.
Do you think I can press off the impeller, flip it over and put it back in?
Does anyone have a need for these? I have two in pristine/new condition? Maybe a swap? 2 for one...?

A. Bad - it won't cool
B. NO - And if you take a quick look at it, flipping the impeller 180 wouldn't change anything anyhow.
BTW, you're correct. 8854 is a short, reverse rotation water pump for a BBC.Jack
