yep another 496 buildup
hey guys im all the way in new zealand and im sure my answers are all on here somewhere already but i would like some expert opinions and advice on this combo. im gunna give some cam companies a call but wanted to ask you guys aswell,
chev impala with 3.0:1 rear, 26" tall tyres, th350 with 2500rpm stall, 3931063 heads with the works, guy before me had them de shrouded, ported polished cced flowed big valves with 3 angle job etc, roller rockers, 750 holley, 1 7/8" headers into 2.5" twin system, edelbrock performer rpm intake, 4.25" crank, 9.5 comp ratio and around 5800rpm max. the top end is going strait from the 402 in the car now to a 454 block with the above crank to make a 496. im after gobs and gobs of mid range torque, a big flat curve over the rev range averaging in the 500 ft/lbs wouldnt be bad and these are some of the cams that come to mind so far from other forums
CC 280H magnum
CC 286H magnum
CC 282S magnum
if anyone has suggestions on things that may need changing or can speak from similar combo experience to offer help id appreciate it. cheers guys

Only thing I'd suggest is save your $$$$$ and go with a roller cam.... with all the good additives missing from the oil I like flat tappet cams even less then I did when the oil was still good...... Lots of good hydraulic and solid rollers that will make great power with your combo.... Just my preference on the roller cams.... We haven't had any valve train issues in 10 years with rollers, most of those years we ran two and sometimes 3 cars..... and now you can hear all the tales about how flat tappet cams are just fine....... haha yea i see quite a few posts on here about big blocks being known for wiping flat tappet cams, i guess roller would be the way to go with the sorta lift that the cam would have aye, would suck for the flat lifter to hit the cam lobe on the way round insteada ridin over it or something haha

Lots of good selection in roller cams, call a rep at Comp and see what he has to say..... Rollers are just plain better.... A bit more money but then quality always is. Even Granma's new car has rollers now....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
