I hear it improves torque and smoothness. But need new plug wires

We have used it on hundreds over the past few years---makes a chevy sound like a ford--torque is much improved--really helps on dirt late models

Thanks Jerry.... Just considering some options on the big block for the 'maro..... with a 3000 pound car, I'll take all the torque I can get!!!! I'm sure somebody has a good hydraulic roller cam out with some decent numbers for it.... Not sure if I will go 496 or 540 cubes..... What do you think, is this old Ford guy on the right track trying to put a chebbie together??????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

....Dave that's what I had/have in my '32. I say have had cuz the motor blew up, in fact to be more specific; the CAM broke in half!!! Yep, that's one reason I'm going with the Hemi, cuz my motor blew. Of course being a 4/7 had nothing to do with it breaking. This motor with the 4/7 cam put out 20 HP more than my other cam {same Tq.} but then I also had the compression raised, the carb redone & switched to a Air Gap intake manifold....
Although I long ago lost the dyno sheet from when I had the regular cam & I don't know if this really helps you or not but here is what my torque & HP was with the 413 Chev small block, AFR 195 heads, Comp cams # CS 47S XE274H-10, 230/236 Dur, Lift .487/.490 but I used 1.6 rockers {.519/.522}, air cap manifold w/ 750 dbl pumper reworked by the Carb Shop, 1" spacer, Sanderson outside headers 1 3/4", 10:1 compression, MSD ignition;
RPM Tq. Hp.

Looks like some good numbers Bill. Been doing some studying on them, seems to give some torque increase....
You're right Richard, 540 does have a nice sound to it.........Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave----I have some sayings I use quite often
I'm just an Illinois farm boy
Tractor motors need straight round holes
I'm just an old drag racer
Dragster engines need straight round holes
I'm just an old jet pilot who used to drag race
The crankshaft doesn't know what the valve cover says
(so don't worry about the chevy/ford thing)
New one -----187 beats 184
Got it????
I once built 3 identical short blocks for me and two of my friends---the boring bar slipped on mine and I had to go bigger to save it---My 522 always outran there 496s---and I just happened to have a set of pistons when one of them hurt there their 496

We had 3 of the first 7 of the bow tie blocks--they couldn't use them in NHRA yet and weren't big enough for IHRA but for us racers in the UDRA we could use them--think they only cost about $800 and we used stock 4 inch bbc crank, the 522 was 4.560
Stock C port heads, 5/16 valves, some clean up work, dry sump, dual dominators---some of the first cars to run 7s, I think my Monza was first to qualify with a 7, make all runs in 7s, and win race ( Milan, Mi, 1984)there was some sporatic 7s prior to that, but that was most memorable race---people there were Leroy Roeder (he had just bought Musi's car& was #1 qual we were #5) Jim Furer's Mercury shotgun, Bruce Allen with a R&M car( prior to driving for them)another shotgun car from Minnesota( can't remember his name ) ---all the cars we ran turned in the 7s on the run---it was a series of the quickest side by side PS runs at that time
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
