    BB Hyd Roller

Has anyone used Comp Cams 280HR Hyd roller cam?

I'm primarily interested in vac at idle.

    All help will be appreciated.

Roller cams seem to do the best with vac at idle compared to a hydraulic or worse yet , the solid lifters.
I have no exsperiance with that cam.
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

    224/224 @ .050 with .566/.566 lift. Not radical. I might use a 236/236 with .578/.578

    Just concerned about vac.

    Any help accepted.

Both of the cams I'm looking at are on a 110 CL with 4 degrees adv (intake on 106).

Just want to make sure I have vac for PB, A/C, etc

I'm running a hyd. roller 236/236 @ .050 with a 110 LSA which has a lift of 626 across the board and I have VERY little vac. I had to go to hyd race style brakes because there was not enough vac. for a brake booster. I would have had only enough vac. for one push of the brake pedal and after that I would have been dragging my feet to stop Fred Flintstone style!

I'm running a 454 BBC in a 30 Model A roadster which has the NEW style Vintage Super Cooler AC that does not run off of vac. so I have no issues there due to very low vac. Originally I thought I would have enough vac. for brakes which is WHY I never went larger on the 236/236 hyd roller. Now since I'm using race style brakes I wish I would have went up larger on the hyd roller cam.

don't know about the AC vac requirements but you could add a vac canister/reservoir that should be effective for your power brakes... have your cake and eat it?

    Just a thought...

Vac can is good idea, BUT, the engine is in my Seville and there's not enough room for a memory under the hood.

I recently talked to an engine builder who built a 496 mudd-bogg engine, 14:1 compression, he used a comp cams 236/242 .612/.612 @112 lsa, it has only 15 deg overlap. He got 21 inch vacuum. He uses total seal rings, said that adds 1-2 in Hg, bleed down hydraulic roller lifters add another 1-2 (similar to rhoads lifters). He told me this cam will make around 16-inch vacuum on my street 540. His engine made 625 horse.
