    Dual carb setups anybody?

thinking of running the Edelbrock dual carb setup in my '71 vette. The engine is a +030 454 aluminum Edelbrock heads, 10.09:1 compression .598 solid comp cam, 4spd, 3:70 gears. Any of you guys run dual carbs? Any opions good or bad on this? Success\horror stories?

    Thanks
    Wade

Edelbrock says the dual quad setup with dual 600cfm carbs could make up to 30Lb-ft more then their Performer intake and 25hp over their Torker II single plane intake.
    had a rebuilt 355SB chevy
    it lasted 42,000km
    Got another rebuilt 355SB
    it lasted 62km.
I still have not had a powerful engine.

I've set up a few over the years on both my personal cars and for customers.

If your looking for pure performance, your likely better off with a well designed single carb manifold and carb dialed in to your car and driving style.

That said, if your looking for WOW factor, I've had pretty good luck with them once they are propery carburated/calibrated.

For a street setup, I like Edelbrock carbs set up with progressive linkage. With your combination, I would say carbs in the 600/650 CFM range. The "new" AVS Edelbrock would be nice to dial in but I've only head about them being offeded in the 750 CFM range and I suspect that would be a bit much for most dual carb setups.

If you elect to go with Holley carbs make sure you get the newer design that have the power valve protection designed into them.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

if u want low end torque go w/ a single carb. if u want top end power use the dual set up.. but i llike a single carb because of the good range of power...

Unless you're running Pro Stock, they're just eye candy....Personally, I really like eye candy !!!!!!! The only thing that looks better thand 2 - 4's is 2 - 4's on a blower!!

Im running two ford two barrels on my 69 fiat 124S. Its on a custom intake and seems to work just fine. The motors a sick beast right now but the carbs seem to keep balanced.
