3969854 block casting number belongs to a 402 Big Block produced between 70-72. 2 and 4 bolt had same numbers.

3975950 head casting number is for 396/427 produced between 68-70. It has 2.06/1.77 valves and closed chamber oval ports.

TBG = 1970 Truck motor, 402CI with 310HP and originally bolted up to a TH400 automatic.

Good strong motor as a base for a BB rod..

    Glenn

Try the Comp Cams "Cam Quest" program, it's free and very helpful in cam selection and/or exploring cam options.....

Still need help, engine disassembled the heads are open chambered but casting number says there closed
    The pistons are closed chambered
Why would this engine have closed chamber pistons ????
Now I'm really confused should I just use them with the open chamber heads and if so how can I find out what compression I would have with this combo.
I can find no numbers on pistons but they have about a 2/16 - 3/16 dome on them and cannot find anything on what cc's these heads are ???

    3975950 head casting

    Thanks for any help !!!!
