I have a stock 1974 454 out of a truck with 90,000 original miles, the heads are stock 781's , was wanting 10/1cr ,pump fuel , this will be for a street rod , starting basically from scratch, budget was to be between $2000-$3000 not real sure if that is doable just looking for some good advice. thanks

    Question re: 496 question

Pat I forgot to ad I'm currently planning on useing a turbo 350 I got it has around 3500 miles since being rebuilt has a shift kit thats it it was in my father-in-laws street rod, with the previous questions regarding a 496 can this be used in my model-t or will it break right away and if it won't work with the 496 then how much can I do to my 454 to use it?

why would you step down on your build to save money on a trans ? the 350 trans could be built to take a 454 ? i think your just shooting your self in the foot trying to put a 350 tran s behind a 454 or 496 in time your going to be putting a 400 trans in it or rebuilding the 350 if there any thing left .the 350 will move it and if you just drive it could work but ? i thinking you are not going EZ on it i busted 400s with the best HD parts money could buy all it takes is spin the wheels out hard and have it hook up you will fine the weak link
