How much compression ?
Want your guys opinion, how much compression and solid roller cam do you think a aluminum headed 427 big block can tolerate with some street use on race fuel and not kill a set of valve springs ever month or self destruct.

With Alum heads 10.5 compression. I'd limit the cam to something in the 660-670 lift range and use quality springs.Buying parts I don't need, with money I don't have, to impress people I don't like

race fuel i have had 12to1 and 14.8 with race fuel cam 700 lift is not hard on springs the duration can add up with rpm and valve train weight and lift to kill springs . look at isky iskyloy 9685 if using a 1.625 dia or a Psi spring i have used them and they hold up very good on the street up to 740 lift. low rpms are hard on lifters no oil splash kills lifters look at a hippo lifter . oil restrictors kill s springs i have all this stuff used if you need any of it cam lifters valve springs super 7 titanium retainers for 11/32 valve stemsLast edited by pat mccarthy; 02-02-2009 at 04:05 PM.
