billet core vs cast core cam
i was told to get a billet core cam with a iorn dist gear installed, and i could use a mark 6 timming set for 50$ and not worry about using a cam button just the retainer on the block behind the cam gear?

if you have a mark 4 block why would you want to do that . the chain set for the mark 6 is more money then the mark 4 and the hold down plate it more money to and you need a step down mark 6 cam to fit the mark 6 timing gear set. i have done that when i was picking up cheap take out roller cams from comp but your buying a new cam ? so i can not see why you would want to do it? why i did it was i was getting hyd cams for less then $70 bucks. a cam button is not hard to put in and there cheap if you running a hyd roller you can run a iron core or a steel core or a steel core with a iron gear i used them all if it is a solid roller you want a steel core with or with out the iron dist gearLast edited by pat mccarthy; 02-17-2009 at 06:23 PM.
