New member with 454 needs help

Hey guys i'm new here but was hoping i could get some advice about a 454 i'm building. Its a 91 mark v (gen v) block. I was hoping to reach a "street friendly" 600 hp and around 650 trq. What advice does anyone have to help me reach this? Also has anybody heard of procomp or patriot aluminum heads?

    much thanks-Steve

600 HP WITH WHAT PUMP FUEL? for starters 600 hp is abit i would put a 4.250 crank in it would make less work and less rpms to get your numbers what your ideal of street friendly?????

91 octane is about the highest we have around here. stroke and bore to a 496? What would be a more reasonable hp goal for me? I want it to be e reliable street machine.

well 600 hp is abit much with out a power adder and good street manners with 91 octane but 500 tq is not. you will feel that a 496 is a 454 060 over and 4.250 crank if you want more hp and tq your looking at alot$$$ and bigger every thing i know how to do it with no power adders and race fuel hi ch and a nasty solid roller cam with the 454

I found a professional built 496 on ebay that they claim makes 690hp and 603 trq on pump gas. They use procomp heads,6.385 rods (i'm guessin stroker rods?), and a Hydraulic Flat-Tappet Cam (Lift: .578" (Intake)/ .603" (Exhaust), Duration @ .050: 244 (Intake), 254 (Exhaust), Lobe Seperation: 110 that they say is streetable but seems aggressive to me. I was wanting to run roller everything. Should i run that same set up i.e. cam size and rods?

once again thanks for the advice

yep on e bay sounds abit over rated ? 690 HP?? i would build you a HYD roller cam engine with all new parts with a good 454 core block all fresh machine work .but less i see it come off the dyno. i do not rate my HP and TQ that hi and if you put it on a dyno and it makes more then what i sold you at the end of the day i not a SOB i would build it with H beam rods not stocker for the money . i can build a better engine with better parts and i may split the cost of the real dyno session with real numbers of your real engine
