454 ??
hello, I just purchase a 454 casting number 361959 head casting number 353049. I'm looking for stock specs for the engine (Comp. ratio, Head cc, rod length, etc). is this engine/ head a good foundation for 375-400hp? How could I achieve my Hp goal? thanks

the 049 heads can he good heads to work with as well as the block if you do some work to the parts you have in stock form i would say 330 to 350 maybe. a bit more can be had by reworking the heads with bigger intake and ex and by moving up the cr with a good hyd roller cam intake and headers 450 to 500 would not be hard at all the deck is 9.800 the rods are 6.135 the bore is 4.250 crank is 4.000 valves are 2.065 and 1.725 3/8 valve stems and cr in stock form is not very much 7.8 crLast edited by pat mccarthy; 03-10-2009 at 11:21 PM.
