A filter bypass is just that, it allows oil to bypass the filter when the flow through the filter is causing a slight pressure drop. That ensures an adequate flow of oil on cold starts and even high RPM operation. I wouldn't even consider running a so-called full-flow filter without one, you'd be asking for oil starvation in some situations.
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
