    Question 454 4-bolt main

Ok i found an ad that had a longblock 454 for $200 out of a 1976 chevy C30 1ton and the engine had 4 bolt mains and was standard bore and i was wondering if it would also have a forged steel crank in it?

I thought since it was a 1 ton AND a 4 bolt main it should have a steel crank in it, right? Or is it a grab bag and i could have a cast crank?

Is it worth $200 with heads and all or am i wasting my time and money?

Thank you for any info, you guys always know what you are talking about(Unlike some websites out there that let idiots give you information)

    Randy

Absolutely worth two bills. Just having a big block on the stand in the garage for bragging purposes is worth 2 bills.

    4 bolt

the date codes on the block and heads match up with the year of the truck.

it is for a fact a 454 and it is standard bore with 100,000 miles on it.

so it probably doesn't have a steel crank then? did they put a steel crank in 1tons in 76' or does the size of the truck not matter?

    truck had an automatic tranny.

well like i said i have pick up 454 4 bolt blocks with cast cranks in them and found steel cranks where you would think it shoud of had a cast crank low power 454 .just look at the crank if it has a big parting line like 1/4 to 3/8 it a steel crank
