    Michigan machine shop guesstamate

     



    i've delt with engins and machine shops befor but the most i've worked on bbc at all is a 454 moterhome lower intake manifold gasket job... I'm just wanting a ball park guess on machineing a virgin gen VI 454 bbc to be ready to install the rotating assembly any one around Grand Rapids MI?... and any recomendations on rotating assemblys? planning on a 496 build.

    i have a machine shop in kawkawlin mi .i do not know anyone in grand rapids mi so i can not say how much . as for the mass i have used cast steel to 4340 cranks .i have built alot of 496 s you need to tell me what you want to do with it and how much power and any power adders then i can tell you what parts to use and how much money

    4340, cheeper to build it as bullet proof the first time insted of the second. it will be going into a 67' cutlass, 3.72 gears, 15'' wheels not sure on tire size, trans is in the air still, roots style s/c... leaning more towards street driving but some track time is bound to happen, shooting for 700's for hp and 500's for tq... with a bbc is it possible to keep this on pump gas or will it need 110+?

    700hp going to need very good parts to try that on pump gas OK i see roots yep good stuff it can be done
