how much boost ? how much power do you want to make ? what cam . crank. rods. piston do you have what heads ? are you going to try to run pump fuel? you can look on BDS for info i have built some bbc for blowers .and sbc toIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

well i can not help .you are not telling me any thing of whats in side your engine. if you say it is a bone stock 454 with all stock parts in side with just cast 030 pistons? with stock cam ??.and your going to drop a 871 on top ? you will have to under drive the blower better then -10%Irish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

well first off i would get a good bottom end there many ways to go here .a new set of H beam or I beam rods would be good to use they abit better to much better then stock bbc 3/8 bolt rods .there are many typs of rods in this form from $400 to $1600 . i have used many of the H beam $400 with the ARP bolts they work very good over the stock rods and by the time you have the stock rods rework with ARP bolts and abit more money you are better to buy new rods. use a forged flat top piston .tru deck the block bore and hone engine with deck plates for your pistons .for blower use i add a bit more piston to wall . i machine and build engine .so there many ways to go here on this build and $$ if not pushing much boost and very mild build then you could use a cast steel crank and 7/16 I beam rods like scat . it come s down to $$ and HP . but for not much more $$ i would start with a all new forged bottom end srp pistons H or I beam rods . 4130or 4342 crank . stock heads could work if heads are a 049 or 781 casting could be rework with ss valves go a 2.19 intake or 2.250 better with a 1880 ex with bowl work .use a roller hyd cam or soild roller cam .i never bore/ hone a engine with out pistons ?Last edited by pat mccarthy; 07-12-2009 at 08:41 PM.

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
