Alcohol BBC build
I'm building a 468" alcohol motor for my pro street car. Scat crank, Manley long rods and 13.5:1 forged pistons, Dart pro one aluminum heads, 700" lift Lunati roller cam, Barry Grant 1040 cfm alcohol carb, etc. What ring pack do you recommend for this build? Do I need any unique pieces in the build to work with the alcohol? Do you like gear drives or chains? Should I run a vacuum pump?
thanks,
roger

Methanol or E-85??? 5 years now on E-85 powered drag motors, never once thought of going back to gas... Street use is gonna be different then a drag only engine, think I'll defer to Mr. McCarthey for specific suggestions on a street BBC....
However, gear drives IMO are no good at all, way too many bad harmonics running through the valve train...them chebbies already have enough trouble with spark scatter cuz they put the distributor on the wrong end of the engine!!!!! We haven't gone to a vacuum pump yet, don't know that we're going to anytime soon....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
