    max cam with factory 049's

I have a freshly rebuilt '73 454 with the 049 heads. We are going to put it in my son's 79 camaro with the attached TH475 and the cars original 3.73 geared posi. We will install a slightly higher stall converter if need be. We are wondering what the best cam/intake would be to get all we can out of the engine with the factory heads and compression ratio. It does have a forged crank, but only 2 bolt mains. Probably just want a flat tappet cam for now, as this is a runner engine for him while we build the 427T stroker engine.
Any suggestion appreciated as we are fairly unknowing to the BBC world.
    Thanks
    Tony

two bolt mains take way more power then you think . i built many past 500hp .small hyd roller cam is what i have used in this type of build .you did not say what CR you have flat tops or dish .if you do not want a hyd roller then a hyd RV cam would be what i would look at .i do not care much for flat lifter cam s in bbc s i seen way to many wipe out on break in . the 427T block is ok block to build. but i done many more 496 with the 9.800 deck . there not much more CiD out of the tall deck if going this way i used a block that can go 4.500to 4.625 bore its at this point it makes up for the added work .if going in to a car things many not fit so hot headers intake .dist they make for the tall deck or spacers for the intake .some front brackets power .alt. may not fit with the tall deck heigth you can re work the dist on the lathe with a slip collar

the engine is rebuilt back to exactly stock specs other than .010 on the rod bearings. The pistions would/should be the original compression ratio. (I could check cylinder compression pressure if that would give me any better ideal on actual compression ratio)Here is what i plan to order: (Please add suggestion if you have any other thoughts on better choices) I want to keep investment in this engine mimimal as I will just sell it when the other motor is done.(6 or 8 months)(Probably won't bring more than $4or500 with less than 5000 miles put on it)

    Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Engine Block Style Stock/OEM standard deck
    Carburetor Quantity Single
    Intake Style Dual plane
    Basic Operating RPM Range 1,500-6,500

    Summit Street/strip cam kit
Cam and Lifters, Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 284/284, Lift .544/.544, Chevy, Big Block, Kit

Cheap set of 1 3/4 headers

    all for only around $500

a rv cam will work. better to stay around av 282/292 and 204/212 @050 478/503 lc 112 or this cam works good av 292/302 @050 214/224 lc 112if your using stock springs and low cr .the stock springs will not take much lift and if shimed with a 060 less 500 lift you should be ok need to check it
