cam dial in
I'm in the process of degreeing my cam.I'm using a cloyes true roller multi keyed timing set. My problem is I can't get to within one degree of the specified settings. The best I can get is either one and one half degree retarded or two degrees advanced depending on the keyway I choose. My question is, if I have to settle for one or the other what should I choose (retarded or advanced) I am assuming I will have plenty of piston to valve clearance since I recently had the piston valve reliefs cut deeper.I'm not really out for blood (street application) but I would appreciate some expert advice here.Thanks.

I'm using a multi keyed crank sprocket.I've tried all three positions and the results were as I stated previously.I'm not sure how critical these specs are but I'd like to to take the best course of action.P.S.Actually I'm a Charlotte boy, CBREEZER is one of my old nicknames.Have a good one!

Yeh, it sure has changed here over the years.Definitely for the good!I live close to the fairy terminal (1/2 mile down river).I'm a positive thinker and I hope it does well.

cbreezer, advancing the cam is what you want to do. Comp Cam has 4 degrees advance built into all their cams. This helps by lowering the power band so that you do not have to scream 7000 rpm.Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

Thanks Typhoon,I was curious about that.If I remember correctly I read somewhere that each degree equates to a 100 rpm shift in the power band.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
